Feeling Nostalgic

I ran across a website today that has some cool info about Spike Jonze, the director that did Adaptation and Being John Malkovich.

The magazine Spike got his start with was Freestylin’. It was the only magazine I read during high-school. My old Haro Master is still out in the garage. I think I decided which color to get after seeing the photo above back in ‘88 or ‘89.

Freestylin’ covered freestyle-BMX and skateboarding. For me it was almost a lifestyle magazine. There were two other editors whose writing I always enjoyed Mark “Lew” Lewman and Andy Jenkins. I recall trying to write a short story like they would write in my English class one time. I got a C.

We rode every free, non-raining hour of the day. I never got any good.
