Beeson Pastor’s School

Beeson is having a “pastors school” July 19-23; here’s a PDF of the brochure (try to ignore the Message version of Psalm 46:10 on the cover). Roger Salter has a workshop titled John Donne: The St. Augustine of Anglicanism. Sounds interesting. I wish I could attend. I’m hoping to get a copy of the audio if nothing else.

BDS impresses me the more I hear of them. Not to mention Mr. Salter, too.

I'd love to take a trip down there for a campus visit or conference.

Yeah, my co-worker went to Beeson, and he really enjoyed it. He took me by to show me around recently, and it seems really nice. The chaple is really nice.

My wife and I are really enjoying St Matthews. I don't have a point of reference for other Episcopal/Anglican churches. Roger considers St Matthews low-church. Each Sunday the early and later service rotate between Morning Prayer and Holy Communion. Going into St Matthews I was looking forward to weekly communion, and I was surprised, at first, to see that it was not every week for the late service. However, we've come to really love the Morning Prayer service. We sing two of the canticles and one of the psalms.

I think Jon Amos is supposed to be visiting sometime. I believe he might be coordinating with Troy Greene, a student at Beeson and St Matthews' youth leader.

We live about an hour from Birmingham, but if you needed a place to stay, I'm sure we could arrange something. Or I'm sure we could find someone in Birmingham to put you up.
