Hymn
Today at St. Matthews we sang a hymn with one of my favorite tunes. Although we sang more familiar words with it. The tune’s name is York you can hear it here. The lyrics, some of my favorite and listed below, are comforting in these days following Hurricane Katrina:
God moves in a mysterious way
Words: William Cowper, 1774God moves in a mysterious way
his wonders to perform:
he plants his footsteps in the sea,
and rides upon the storm.
Deep in unfathomable mines,
with never-failing skill,
he treasures up his bright designs,
and works his sovereign will.
Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
the clouds ye so much dread
are big with mercy, and shall break
in blessings on your head.
Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
but trust him for his grace;
behind a frowning providence
he hides a smiling face.
His purposes will ripen fast,
unfolding every hour:
the bud may have a bitter taste,
but sweet will be the flower.
Blind unbelief is sure to err,
and scan his work in vain;
God is his own interpreter,
and he will make it plain.

The redesign looks good. Has it been this way long and I just missed it?
The imagery in these lines of the song is interesting to me:
behind a frowning providence he hides a smiling face.
It went "live" Sunday night. You aren't as non-detailed as you would like to think.
Yeah, that's an interesting choice of imagery.
Oddly enough, we sang the same hymn Sunday too. It's one of my favorites as well. Cowper had a troubled life but wrote some beautiful hymns.
I like the mentioned imagery and the clouds breaking in blessings on your head line as well.
